FRED LUCK

Hired as the company's first real accountant, to some he presented a sloth-like appearance and was mostly unimpressive. He became more important to Jim when the company was put up for sale and he was advanced to CFO, the first promotion of a new corporate officer in the company's history. He survived the arrival of a new CEO and has continued to receive about a $30,000 bonus over his $140,000+ salary each year, whether the company makes any money or not. He was the focus of a settled law-suit and may have been at the center of fears of another suit that did not materialize. Many in the company do not like him, at least one weak blonde staffer does like him. What do you think of him?

Fred lobbied hard to be the company's new CEO. After Jim hired his replacement CEO and retired to Chairman, this cluck told Jim that he no longer considered Jim to be a colleague; this after Jim had "made him." when the company was stripped of its assets by Jim, Mike, Bob, and Churchill, the job of CFO became much more critical since it was now necessary to produce frequent financial statements showing how healthy the company was to the banks financing the deal. The company has not made any money since Jim left, so you could only wonder what kind of stories the carefully crafted financial statements tell.

We paid to defend one harassment case for Fred and were concerned that he may have gotten us into another one. He had his problems and is in no way qualified to lead the company even though he wanted the CEO job. There is no telling what, if anything, he may be doing to undermine John. I am sure he still wants to be CEO and is marking his time.
